Bipolar transistor

$19

A bipolar junction transistor (BJT) is a type of transistor that uses electrons and lacunae as charge carriers. Unipolar transistors, like field effect transistors, use only one type of charge carrier. A bipolar transistor allows a small current attached to one of its terminals to control a much higher current flowing between two other terminals, making the device capable of amplification or switching.
